This just might be the best version of this song :)She makes the song more serious and less kiddish sounding,I can only imagine how beautiful the instrumental is :)This sounds like Detroit instrumental, but if its California Band instrumental, this means the California studio band was excellent also :)

Was this originally written for Martha Reeves and The Vandellas or the Jackson 5? This version is great!

this song started out as " I wanna be free" for Gladys Knight and the Pips, but was reworked to I want You back for the Jackson 5. the Vandellas version was recorded in 1971 and released as the flip side of Tear it on down in May 1972

I have been listening to this song on a compilation called Motor City, and I love it. This is not quite the same version, so does anyone know where else these tracks may be found.

Repeated five times and still not bored. Geez god bless Motown/Northen Soul and anything made with raw Soul.

It would have been great to have Martha and the Vandellas sing more songs written and produced by The Corporation...
