I believe the first recording/release was by Kai Winding Orchestra in October, 1963. Vocalists were Cissy Houston and Dee Dee and Dionne Warwick. Composed by Jerry Ragovoy.The song, with added lyrics by Jimmy Norman was recorded by Irma Thomas and ended up as the B-side of a 45 released in early 1964, which the Stones jumped right on.
