Carl is one of the VERY few artists whose R+R I can enjoy listening to. He was a great singer AND great lead guitar player. It still seems sad to me that the music industry timing with almighty dollar emphasis steered him away from continuing in the vein of this recording. There were all too few who could do this REAL country music that well.

The Hank Williams influence is astounding...Carl hung his hat on rockabilly, the fading trend at the time... He was a Sun artist....Brilliant musician and song writer....Carl actually "Picked cotton"...He was a hard working guy... Bathed in the blues, yeah. Learned to pick a guitar from a "slave hand" on his families farm...
